MEASURING VOLUME
What can we use?
UNITS OF MESUREMENT
measuring cylinder
LITRE
(l)
MILILITRE
(ml)
CUBIC CENTIMETRE
(cm³)
1 LITRE (l)
=
1,000 MILIMETRES (ml)
=
1,000 cubic centimetres (cm³)
WHEN MESURING THE VOLUME OF LIQUIDS, THE VALUE OF THE MEASURING LINE ONTHE CYLINDER IS TH VOLUME
The volume of regular-shaped solids is calculated with simple mathematical formulas, that is by the water displacement method.
WATER DISPLACEMENT METHOD
VOLUME OF LIQUIDS
VOLUME OF REGULAR-SHAPED SOLIDS
FISRT STEP:
THE SOLID IS PLACED IN A MESURING CYLINDER THAT contains a liquid in it, and the liquid level rises
SECOND STEP:
THE AMOUNT OF MILILITRES THAT THE LIQUID LEVEL RISES INDICATED THE VOLUME OF THE SOLID
For example, in this photo the liquid level rises 200 ml. so, the volume of the solid is 200 ml
