DENSITY
DENSITY IS THE CONCENTRATION OF MATTER IN A PARTICULAR VOLUME
so, it depends on
the mathematical formula for calculating density
MASS
VOLUME
here is a clue that might help you remember the fomula
YOU HAVE ALREADY LEARN THAT OBJECTS OF THE SAME SIZE CAN HAVE VERY DIFFERENT MASS
SAME SIZE
DIFFERENT MASS
Also, just because two objects are the same size doesn't mean they have the same density
I we look at this example, matter is more concentrated in a bowling ball than in a fotball ball of the same size.
This means that the bowling ball has more mass in the same volume, so its density is higher
it has a higher density
GOMA
METAL
NOW LET'S THINK WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF TWO OBJECTS HAVE THE SAME MASS BUT DIFFERENT VOLUME. FOR EXAMPLE, LET'S TAKE A RUBBER BALL AND A METAL BALL WITH THE SAME BUT, BUT DIFFERENT VOLUME.
The metal sphere now has the same mass as the rubber one but takes up much less volume, which is why it is said to be denser.
DENSITY OF WATER
A cubic centimetre os water has a mass of 1 gram
1 cm³
1 g
This means that the density of water is 1 g/cm ³
